Lets examine Foster's statements and determine for ourselves if we think a cull in Cartier Park is a good idea. We will not even consider The revision clause in the deed, the potential chemical contamination, city ordinances and state laws we will just focus on Foster's statements in the above article.

  1. Foster says barricades will block citizens access to the park on the days the culls are taking place. We are all familiar with the park and know there are miles of park perimeter where people can walk or ride their bike into the park. There is no way a few roadway or walkway barricades will insure that no one enters the park during cull shooting.

  2. Foster says gunfire will not be heard. That's nice, so citizens will not be aware shooting is underway so they may walk into the shooting area unaware of what is happening.

  3. Foster says it is highly unlikely a wounded deer or multiple "deers" [the plural of deer is deer not deers] to end up in residents yards due to the firearm discharge areas. Notice he did not say impossible and if you know anything about deer hunting you know it is possible for a deer to travel for miles before dying from a gunshot wound.

  4. Foster says if a deer is not taken down in one trigger pull they will be tracked by USDA operators using night vision cameras in case they need to gat a truck over there. I guess the prohibition to motorized vehicles posted all over the park area does not apply to the USDA. And with the exception of a couple of roadway and perhaps the pathway trucks would be useless in the park's wooded area.

  5. Foster says there will be more people to control the "situation". Were are these extra people going to miraculously appear from and what are the situations he is referring to?

  6. Foster says entrances will be barred with barricades as one might expect at a construction site. Well the park is no construction site and with miles of unrestricted perimeter blocking a few entry points will not stop people or pets from entering the park during a cull unaware that they are entering a killing zoon.

The park is surrounded by busy roads, Rath Avenue, Bryant Road and M-116. Foster admits that a wounded deer could end up in a neighboring yard that means a panicked dying deer will be fleeing for its life across on of these roadways maybe directly into the path of a vehicle, maybe yours.
