We are
not alone in this fight to stop the cruel and inhumane practice of deer
culls. There are numerous websites that articulate sound reasoning to
prohibit culls forever.

a list of them.
According to the DNR about 300,000
deer were taken in this past deer hunting season, If you believe their
estimates of 2,000,000 deer in the state [I do not] that is about 15% of
the population. So why does Ludington or anyone for that matter, need to spend $20,000 to kill 40
more deer while leaving sidewalks and streets in disrepair?
This website is designed to provide information regarding the
proposed deer cull for early in 2023 to be conducted in the High School
Forest and Cartier Park in Ludington Michigan.
The railroad refused to give permission
to hunt on their property, they recognize the risks and lack of benefits
that the city and school board refuse to acknowledge.

We plan to have yard signs available in the
future. Let us know if you would like one.
It is our hope that once all the facts are considered you will
support our efforts to stop the slaughter.
The site contains information regarding Michigan
deer and while there is a lot of information to digest we believe once
you have the facts you will not support any cull.
If you read the submissions to the Ludington Daily News on the
Daily News page on this website you will
get a good idea why this cull is at best foolish. They are arranged
first to last so there are some information changes as better date was
uncovered.
Did you know that insurance companies are the biggest supporters of
deer culls. That is because more than $1 billion in annual insured
losses are due to damages caused by deer-car accidents. The number of
card deer accidents in Michigan are equal to 2.5% of the deer
population. So to prevent one car deer accident in Ludington you have to
kill forty (40) deer.
No one really knows how many deer there are in Michigan, The current
guess is about 2,000,000. If that is correct it would be safe to assume
there are about 15,000 deer in Mason county. If you believe killing 15
or 20 deer or even 100 in a cull is going to save your flowers I have a
bridge you may be interested it.
WE are throwing away about $60,000 on a deer cull while we force our
handicapped citizens that must rely on powered wheelchairs to get around
to be in the streets because the sidewalks are in such disrepair they
can not safely use them.
Go here: for
more interesting information about White Tail Deer. Life is
difficult enough for deer with winter mortalities as high as 50% they do
not need to deal with culls in addition to that. When God gave us
dominion over the earth and everything in it that meant we were to care
for it and protect it not kill everything else on the planet that
inconvenienced us in the slightest.
The DNR seems to believe they own
the White Tail Deer, if this is true then they are responsible for them.
Consequently when a community has a problem with the deer it is
the DNR's job to fix that problem at no charge to the community. It
would be interesting to see how many culls there were if the DNR could
not charge for doing them. My money is on zero!

There is so much information
available related to the ineffectiveness of deer culls that reporting
most of it results is this website having a lot of pages. WE are
currently working on a case study of one community that has conducted
deer culls for years. You can look at the numbers and judge for yourself
what they mean. Getting information from the state is like pulling teeth
and cost as much. What are they trying to hide? The case study is Big
Rapids Michigan.

Michigan Law Act 451 of 1994 - (7) was intended to protect
you from being shot on your own property. IT DOES NOT
because the DNR, shoots animals at any
distance from your house and claims it isn't hunting. Your
family is put at risk by bureaucrats bending rules to boost
their kill numbers. Tell Senator Jon Bumstead (senjbumstead@senate.michigan.gov)
and Congressman Curt VanderWall (CurtisVanderWall@house.mi.gov)
you want everyone to obey this law.

the culls on the
townships
website.
The DNR likes to use CWD "Chronic Wasting Disease" as a
justification for White-tail deer culls. You need to be informed about
this disease so you can determine for yourself if The DNR is being
truthful or just using this to gain power and control over the deer
herd. Get the facts here.

Mission
Statement: We are opposed to deer culls that are instigated primarily
because of damage to residential gardens and flowers. Misinformation
related to overpopulation, accidents and disease are often cited as
justification for culls but these are nothing more than cover because
the real reason is not justifiable. We do not oppose legal hunting or
firearm ownership.

Early in our fight
against the deer cull we reached out to several of the large animal
rights organization for advice and assistance. While other responded
Friends
of Animals was
the only one that took action in support of our efforts with
publications and media information directed to their members and
supporters. This was essential to our success. I urge you to support
them.
I just learned
that the DNR has issued 40 kill permits for the Ludington area cull. If
they were to be successful I believe there would be no deer left in the
Cartier Park and high school forest areas. Do we really want that?
Contact your council person and tell them to stop the cull before it is
too late. You can find their email addresses and telephone numbers On
the Council Members page.
